When Authority Becomes Easy to Manufacture, Trust Becomes Expensive

I've become increasingly convinced that the most valuable currency in coaching right now is trust, and that this shift is happening faster than most people in the industry have registered.

AI can create content now, at a volume and speed that would have been unthinkable even a few years ago. Almost anyone can build a polished website in an afternoon. Almost anyone can put together a credible-looking online presence and, at least at first glance, appear to be an expert in something they may only understand superficially.

The question a client is really asking

That changes what a potential client is weighing when they decide who to work with.

It used to be enough to look professional. Now clients are going to start asking a much harder, much more important question: who do I actually trust?

That shift means your credibility, your professional presence, your real experience, your reputation among people who've actually worked with you, and the quality of the journey you take a client through, matter more than they ever have.

Polish alone doesn't answer the trust question any more, because polish has become cheap and easy to fake.

When authority becomes easy to manufacture, trust becomes expensive.

What this means practically

I think that's the environment coaches are stepping into right now, whether they've consciously named it yet or not.

And I think the coaches who understand this early, who invest deliberately in building real, verifiable credibility rather than just a more impressive-looking website, are going to be the ones who come out ahead over the next several years.
