Healing Starts With a Clear Request

Hypnotherapy, NLP and intuitive work sit at opposite ends of the scale. For Molly Ann Fairley, they all wait on the same thing: a client who can say exactly what they want to change.

Every session Molly Ann Fairley runs begins the same way. Before any technique, before any intuition, she asks one question: what do you want to change? And she does not move on until the answer is specific.

The habit came from experience, not theory. In her years working as a clairvoyant, clients would sometimes reach the end of a reading and say the thing they had actually come for was never covered. “So I stopped all that,” she says, “and get them to tell me exactly what they want at the beginning.”

It sounds simple. It is also the hinge her whole practice turns on. Fairley describes the change she facilitates as working “through emotion,” and emotion needs a target. A vague wish to feel better gives the work nowhere to land. A clearly named pattern gives it a direction: a stuck relationship, a recurring money block, a confidence gap that keeps someone from acting on their own life.

Those are the themes she sees most often. Money tops the list, which she notes is a particularly common block for people on a spiritual path. Close behind come relationships and family disputes, the feeling of being left out, career progress, and confidence. Underneath all of them is what she says she is most passionate about: helping people break through and collapse “patterns that have been controlling their lives for a very long time.”

One request, many kinds of minds

Fairley’s toolkit spans what she calls “opposite ends of the scale,” and she assembled it gradually. It started with yoga classes in her thirties, which turned into teacher training and, before long, teaching meditation. That path led her to hypnosis and hypnotherapy, a field she still finds fascinating. Wanting to reach the root of an issue more quickly (“I am quite a speedy person,” she says), she went on to train in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), working with golfers and tennis players along the way.

The intuitive side came later. In her mid-forties, during a period of personal upheaval, she began to open up in a new way. Today she works as a clairvoyant and energy healer, and says much of her healing work comes through channeling.

The range is deliberate. “Every single person’s mind works differently,” she says, so a clear request gets met by whichever approach fits that person. NLP, for example, lets her reach clients who process the world visually rather than through feeling. Without that training, she says, she would not know how to work with those minds in a way that produces the change they asked for.

The same principle scales to groups, where she says the work moves very fast. She asks one person to be courageous enough to name what they want. That statement tends to land with others in the room, and the group moves to the next layer together.

What healing means

Asked to define healing, Fairley does not reach for anything elaborate.

The absence of disturbance.

Molly Ann Fairley

Calm, centered, focused, knowing what you want. And for many people, relief from something that has troubled them for years.

There is a quiet symmetry in that definition. Healing, for her, ends where the session begins: with a person who knows what they want. The clear request at the start is both the method and a first glimpse of the outcome.

She is also candid that change does not follow a predictable script. Some people resolve an issue in a single session. Others, often those most committed to their own growth, find it harder going. She has stopped trying to predict which will be which, and simply meets whoever turns up.

Whatever the person or the pattern, the starting point stays the same. Know what you want to change. Say it out loud. Then the work can begin.
